I bought this for my Kenwood TH-D74A handheld ham radio. After spending a few hundred dollars on Kenwood factory hardware just to get a new laptop, it's nice to save some cash for a rarely used car power cord. A factory PG3 costs about $40. It's generally best to stick with factory hardware, especially things like batteries, internal components, etc. But if you can save money on a power cord, go for it. This one is good too, as good as any Kenwood, Yaesu or Icom car cable. The wire has a good thick shield, a solid ferrite bead, a solid head with a fuse and smoothing control. Even a backup fuse. I tested it on the power bank and in my car with a multimeter and everything is fine. With all the money Kenwood made from my new radio, I don't really feel bad about buying aftermarket. For what we pay for portable radios, all you have to do is turn on the portable charger. At least one extra wire so we can make one.
