The label on the case advises that the color may bleed if the clothes get wet from rain or sweat but luckily that hasn't happened to me. When unzipped, the reinforced opening stays open (and not as flexible as school backpacks) allowing items to easily fit inside. It costs like a paper bag. It has many internal pockets of different sizes: iPad, passport, internal zippered pocket for small items, as well as side glasses pockets and a USB port. If you travel light, you could probably use it as a holdall. I had trouble putting a water bottle in the outer side pockets because I think they are meant for the water bottles you buy in suitcases from the grocery store and not the Rubbermaid or Hydroflask types.
