I love the rite of passage, but any shoe with a strap never works. I needed these shoes for the event and bought them because I couldn't find anything better and didn't want my daughter to be uncomfortable in shoes. I bought the 9W extra, but even then the belt was removed. I was expecting this but didn't think it would end up in the middle! My daughter doesn't have swollen feet - I think it's just a design flaw by Stride Rite on their Mary Jane style shoes because I've bought other similar shoes before and always return them because the strap is either closed or the " Medal" is always removed. . Although they are comfortable - it's my daughter wanting to wear them around the house this morning lol.
