I ordered this center speaker for two reasons. First I used a Pioneer SP-C22 which was too big to fit directly under my TV and the slim profile of this unit was perfect. The SP-C22 costs less than $100. Second, I liked the look and feel, which goes well with my Elac UF5 and UB5. I suspected that such small drivers could produce meaningful bass, but after reading the reviews I realized that this wouldn't be a problem. Well, after swapping out my SP-C22, the difference was immediately apparent, there was virtually no bass. After trying several crossover frequencies and even setting the speakers to high values, still nothing. Of course, the mids and highs are quite decent, but overall I'm very disappointed. By the way, I use two subwoofers, but I'm not talking a subwoofer or anything remotely, more like a base you would expect from small bookshelf speakers with the same frequency response. To be honest I find the 53Hz bass frequency quite far away. When it achieves this, it should be at a decibel level that is imperceptible.
