This lamp is really very beautiful. It arrived quickly and well packaged. However, it can only be controlled via the touch mechanism on the base - one touch for minimum brightness, two for medium brightness, three for maximum brightness, four for off. That means if you want to use it at night - for reading in bed, going to the bathroom, getting ready without disturbing your partner - you'll have to push the highest setting out of your eyes to turn it off. Even when I close my eyes, it's still blindingly bright, so I wouldn't recommend it for nighttime use. I looked at a lot of lamps and read a lot of reviews before choosing this lamp, so I'm disappointed. The rest is very nice. I will probably return. I would recommend it if you want to use it as a work/desk lamp or an end table etc. UPDATE: I'm keeping it to myself. This little lamp is very reliable and serves its purpose perfectly. The short, bright flashing before switching off is a bit annoying.
