The fabric they use is a twill weave and nothing like flannel. I have a 38" waist and their large fits me just fine, a little loose but they are PJs. I wish this company would publish a size guide. It would only take a couple of minutes. Right now, you have to sift through the Q&A and hope for the best. If you are a tall person, don't worry they made the leg length extra long (much too long for me, I am 5'7").
