The thick connector shell will not pair with the protective case installed on the iOS device

Apple's Lightning connector constantly struggles in the best of all worlds. This adapter is not suitable if you intend to use it with your device's protective case installed. Given the number of cumbersome cables attached when using this particular adapter, using it with an adapter might be one of the times you need this protective case on your device the MOST, so I'd say unless there is other brands/models. available, skip it. As mentioned above, Apple's Lightning connector is consistently finicky on devices older than 1 year, so I can't tell if the disconnection (after plugging it in without a protective case) is an issue with the Lightning connector's poor alignment or just the lighting socket on my device is worn out/dusty. Suffice it to say that I will never attempt to use a setup containing any of these elements to make money from audio/video production, recording or music production. Really nothing but experimenting until I found a reliable connector for a portable keyboard synthesizer. All that said, if I can plug in the iOS Lightning port AND the power/charge port at the same time, it's quite interesting to make a 49 key Lightning/USB powered midi keyboard for an iPhone with a software synthesizer (Music Studio worked the first time, but the included piano part is very lame; BeatMaker and GarageBand claim to have decent piano parts). Lightning connector issues aside, I'm now painfully close to having a lightweight midi keyboard/piano synth that runs entirely on batteries!
