Review on Rowenta VU2631 Turbo Silence Table Fan: Powerful 4-Speed Portable Fan with User-Friendly Turn Dial by Kimberly Williams

Great fan, good value for money

The Rowenta Five Blade Oscillating Fan is one of my favorite fans in our house. We have an Air King in the upstairs hall, two large Vornado fans, one in the kitchen and one in the master bedroom. I chose this Rowenta fan for the guest room. I put it on a bar stool in the corner of the room so the fan would swing over the bed. My parents came to visit and we had some devils in our guest room. All of our guests said that the fan blows out good airflow and is quiet. The fan is barely audible on a low level, and quite audible on Turbo, but not unpleasant. As other reviewers have noted, there is a faint light at the base of the fan when in sleep mode, but I have no complaints about this feature. In sleep mode, it blows a little less than at level 1. The build quality of the fan is quite good, although it is made of plastic. If I spill it on the ground it could do some damage but I think the extra wide base is to prevent easy tipping and falls from dogs or children getting caught on the cord. The control knob is in one piece and moves from one position to another with a noticeable stop. The fan shroud is metal, with a plastic ring holding the front and back halves together. I've read that some reviewers have pointed out that this plastic ring can break, rendering the fan unusable. I think if the plastic cover ring ever breaks I'll just use zip ties to put the front and back back together. Overall, I would definitely recommend this fan to anyone looking for a quiet, powerful oscillating fan.
