I have a low boost supercharger and this is one of the few mechanical gauges that reads both vacuum and boost, but only up to 15psi. So I took a chance and burned myself. This didn't help with its primary purpose of reading accurate pressure readings. My readings were 1.5-2 psi lower, which was confirmed by testing two other mechanical gauges, both of which showed higher readings and were equal to each other. I live at 5280 feet but have never had a problem with other mechanical gauges. Plus, the tinted dial looks silly. I didn't particularly want this feature, but the 15psi gauge doesn't have much competition. Let me confirm that I personally don't care. This means that if there's a total power outage, you'll almost never be able to read the sensor readings unless there's enough external light on it. It needs to be constantly lit (to varying degrees), which in my case makes it much brighter than my regular indoor lighting. It also makes it a little more PIA to connect since there are more wires. I would have preferred a regular frame/backlight design. But I understand how some people like aesthetics. Since it was so cheap, I figured it was worth the risk to reward the caliber by adjusting the spring to keep the needle a little higher at all times. but i just broke it. In the end I compromised with an Autometer reading 20psi. It's more precise and simpler in design - 2 out of 3 isn't bad.
