Waterproof + inexpensive cover

I have several rain/poncho covers. This is by far one of the best, better than the Snugpak poncho and slightly less versatile than the Swagman (much more expensive). It's huge and great for its purpose, especially when you need to "drop on the floor". The supplied stakes are sufficient for the job. In terms of cost, however, I prefer the much thinner and lighter (and smaller) Onewind Silnylon Poncho for 40% less. And there are certainly some canvas ripstop ponchos that are small, lightweight, and work well for 1/2-1/3 the cost. Here's a caveat; A regular poncho tarp (much smaller) is only that much better if you're using it as a tarp on top of something small and hanging like a hammock or bivouac for when you need to lay down on the ground. I bought it on sale. Lightning fast deal priced at $47 making it a great deal. My purchase is for ultra light camping but can be used in an emergency bag.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Large and bulky
