good value for money but room for improvement, short lived

Pros: - $40, it's a cheap pan/tilt IP camera - decent video quality - good night vision - two tones, audio alerts and amazing bright spot light - ONVIF compliant so there are many software solutions to control, record and setup the camera - even with wired ethernet I never got more than 15fps, averaging around 12-13 at around 3Mbps. Penalty for security camera So-so - Supplier insists you download a poorly translated Chinese setup app on your phone - I only needed the camera to record, not to tell people to leave my lawn. By default, when motion is detected, the headlight turns on, after a while it says you're not welcome and leaves. In order to disable this setting I had to create an account with this poorly translated app so a menu can disable this annoying setting. I've tried several other software tools, but none of them disabled the alarms expected for the vendor's desired application. - The camera gets an IP address via DHCP, not sure if it supports static addressing or not. - The camera has a built in web server and control panel, but it's rubbish and doesn't work, not even a little bit - Don't expect to be able to read license plates, it's not that clear - If your network was down before using the camera turn it on, it may not be discoverable on the network (but will get a DHCP address). I'm not sure why. Turning the camera off and on fixes the problem. The product documentation is not too long and consists of several YouTube videos. Although the camera is designed for outdoor use, it is made of plastic with multiple holes on the device, which can cause problems in water and rain. mine is pretty weatherproof but I'm not sure how long it will last. I'm currently using ispy and it works pretty well with the camera, except disabling warnings via ispy doesn't work (see above). Onvifer works quite well for Android. The vendor recommended application is called icsee by huangwanshui.Update. Has lasted almost 1 year so far. Obtains an IP address but does not transmit video. You get what you pay for

Difficult to set up. But worth it.
