Review on Black Logitech K740 Illuminated Ultrathin Keyboard ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ with Laser-Etched Backlit Keys and Soft-Touch Palm Rest by Anne Dominguez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

WAS the best wired keyboard in Logitech's repertoire (past tense)

The keyboards are very individual, but to me this is by far the best keyboard from Logitech in terms of feel. Keystrokes provide positive feedback with a travel of about 2mm. Key pressure is moderate, which provides decent tactile feedback. Other considerations. The keyboard is indeed very thin, elegant and the white backlight is evenly distributed over the keyboard. Not super bright, but suitable for our office. I don't need a backlit keyboard - unfortunately Logitech doesn't (apparently) make a comparable non-backlit keyboard. -------------- Since I wrote this review (yesterday) 3 buttons are crooked or fell off completely. The CTRL key does not work properly. I read in one of the previous reviews that the quality has suffered. Unfortunately, I can confirm this observation. Looking at the keyboard, some of the keys are crooked and likely candidates for falling out or sticking. I haven't seen this issue with the previous 7 keyboards (all K740) so I have to assume that Logitech has changed something about how these keyboards are manufactured or assembled. Only Logitech can answer that question! In any case, this shouldn't be the case with an expensive keyboard. So I'm deducting 3 stars from the rating. Logitech, whatever you do in manufacturing, you need to think differently.

Pros
  • Only positives
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
