My beloved cat, Polka Dot, got so hot and overheated in this carrier that she went mad trying to get about halfway through the flight through the to push bag. I grabbed my bag, carried it to the back of the plane and asked the flight attendant for help. Thank goodness the seats in the back row were empty and I was allowed and able to open the stroller and direct air through the vent at the top of the stroller and also stick her head out to cool her down so she could breathe. She felt comfortable and fell asleep within 10 minutes as soon as I did this for her. I was able to stay in the seat with her for the rest of the flight with the trunk fully open and keep blowing air. This story has a happy ending, but I'm scared for other pets who might be in this situation. It was only a 2 hour 20 minute flight. The carrier is sturdy but I find that the mesh is woven too tightly preventing adequate airflow to keep your pet cool and allow adequate airflow to breathe.
