Revainrating 4 out of 5

Only 50% useful for what I bought it for.

Product works great as a keyboard and touchpad for my HTPC. The problem is that I bought it for more than just that reason. I bought this product because it was marketed as a functional HTPC mouse/keyboard and also had the features you would expect from a $4 universal remote for my TV. The included instructions are sparse at best, obviously not written by a native English speaker, but that's really not the biggest issue. Either the instructions don't indicate how to do this, or the device just can't function as a universal remote. It mentions "IR Learning" with "Smart Remote". I don't understand why this product can't include 1985 technology and have a simple uninstall programming process with universal codes. I no longer have the original remote for my 50" Toshiba Smart TV. I don't know why this is the only way to program this remote to control my TV, DVD player etc (if it can even do it) .In my experience people only buy universal remotes because they lost the original remote.I have a new Sharper Image jumbo remote that I have been able to program (again a 20 year old universal remote that can do things that this unit with newer technology either can't, or the manufacturers haven't bothered to provide competent instructions) I asked a question about Revain and the response I received was from the seller and did nothing further to help brought me back to the missing instructions. However, I was unable to use my programmed jumbo to program this device. The f doesn't work. My goal was to have a device that could do both, again, this is the pinnacle of 1985 technology I'm asking for, which doesn't seem unreasonable. I would return this unit if it was worth the hassle, unfortunately since it costs less than $20 it's more trouble than it's worth to me.
