* For any file system except FAT32 I note right away that I was fully aware of what I was getting and I strongly recommend everyone to study the issue. The web is full of product information and benchmarks. I decided to use this flash drive for network storage on my home router. The fact is that an SSD drive consumes + -500mA, and flash drives usually do not exceed 100mA, while a router (embedded on MIPS) is very sensitive to power consumption and, from file systems, "can" only the EXT2 / 3 family /4 and FAT32. For the sake of interest, I tried to format the USB flash drive in EXT3. The case dragged on for 4 hours, because the operating system recorded some metadata in VERY small portions in synchronous mode. The same thing happened with EXT2/4. I decided to try formatting (only cleaning the table of contents) in NTFS and look at the write speed. The write speed with NTFS was about + -3-5Mb / s (albeit a lousy one, but already a result) for medium-sized files (5-10Mb). But with the FAT32 file system, the flash drive "reveals" itself. The recording speed is + -15Mb / s. But, as you know, there are a number of restrictions for FAT32, namely, the file size should not exceed 4GB. Those. for recording movies or other large amounts of data in one file, FAT32 will not work. Outcome: - The flash drive will find its "niche" audience - Works tolerably only with FAT32 - Not suitable for storing large files - Not suitable for "fast" data exchange
