Review on πŸŽ›οΈ 2 Inch Tachometer 52mm Tacho Gauge with 7 Color Tinted Meter, 0~8000 RPM, Smoke Face, 12 V by Raymond Iglesias

Terrible instructions but works great.

Made in China, about $35 and instructions are terrible. But pull yourself together and I'll tell you how it works. The first thing to do during installation is to connect the yellow light wire to the +12V ignition source in the same place as the red wire. Otherwise the face will not light up. I connected the yellow wire to a light source first and the tachometer only came on when the light was on. Then it doesn't fit very well on the plastic POD mounting block, I cut the bottom off mine and used sticky foam pads just glued onto the POD and it's stuck there like a bug on a mat. Also, with the tail cut off, the tach can be mounted upside down like I did on my '99 Mercury Grand Marquis. But that's not all, the cylinder selection button will still be available. If the rear of the POD is not modified, the cylinder button will not be accessible with the tachometer in the POD. There is no proper guide to setting the number of cylinders. But I have made some detailed instructions right here just for you. With the tachometer connected, turn the key to the run position, but DO NOT start the engine. The tachometer will illuminate, the needle will move up and down the scale and return to 0 RPM. Press and hold the rear cylinder button for 10 seconds. The needle moves to 4 on the x1000 speedometer scale, which was my default. by available integers ; ) Note: The pointer only moves from 1 to 8 for x1000 RPM numbers. After 8 it goes back to 1 so I'm wondering if it supports 9 and 10 cylinder engines? Go back to 0 and it will be saved. If you choose not to cut off the back of the POD, be sure to do so before installing it into the POD as the Cylinder Select button will then no longer be available. I hope this helps all other cheap, I mean budget conscious folks who are willing to pay as little as $35 for a tachometer for their car. I think it looks pretty good and only covers the faint light of the washer fluid on my dash when installed. The different background colors also look very good. But we, frugal fellows, always go green!
