This is a relatively small container. 2.5L is the perfect size for a 5 pound bag of rice. If your family cooks rice regularly, you'll probably eat 5 pounds of rice fast enough that you don't have to worry about the container not being perfectly airtight. We buy rice in 25lb or 10kg bags and then continue to fill this small container as needed. A small container is much easier to handle than a 25 pound bag. The spout makes it easy to measure the right amount of rice. The dimensions of the built-in measuring cup correspond to the markings on modern Japanese rice cookers. Fill the measuring cup to the 180ml mark, then fill the rice cooker pot to the mark in the pot. The quality of this container isn't the best, but it doesn't break often and it's inexpensive to replace if it breaks. You can likely find them at lower prices at Asian-American discount stores.
