A great long lasting investment in your sewing workshop

This was my first time using an overlock. I'm a self-taught seamstress, I've been sewing for about 4 years. After fully learning my brother's sewing machine and learning how to make patterns myself, I was ready to take my sewing to the next level. As a young mother and college student, I had to count every penny. due to a very limited budget, but I also needed to maximize the return on my investment in this product. I spent about 5 full days researching (luckily I have summer vacation to do this) which serger to buy and finally concluded that it is safe! Here's the biggest reason: This serger is made with parts that are built to last. Even after a week of use I can say that with great care and a solid knowledge of how this machine works I will be using it for a very long time. I like to use the car buying analogy: would you rather have a brightly colored car with a sunroof and fancy features that make it more fun to drive, but with defective parts that break and cost you more money? long term? Or do you prefer a car with a great engine that won't break down easily, or if it does, with easily accessible and replaceable parts that can be retrofitted later along the way? I chose one that might not have all the bells and whistles of other Segers, but I'm sure it will last a very long time even with very heavy use. Here are some additional advantages: - Fairly quiet and smooth running - Detailed pictures and techniques are included in the manual - A good variety of techniques you can perform - Well done ;) - Nice and long cable - Label thread color coding - Sufficient Accessories included, some I'm not quite sure what they are for but look cool - Suction cups on the bottom to keep the overlock in place if your 5 year old decides to see how heavy it is - compact and sturdy - solid, firm, juki carry and carry handle - differential innings! Loving it is also a good buy if the sergeant scares you a little like me. Even if you make mistakes you will still learn, grow and improve on what you know and can do. Just practice. gas station practice again and again Practice sewing on different types of fabric, practice the hemming and roll assembly techniques listed in the instruction manual; Just get to know your car while you practice it. And one downside that's actually not that bad, just something I'll be looking for in my update in the far future: chain stitching and that cool hem feature you see on all industrial clothing, so invest in yourself and your sewing beginner or pro ! Just get to know your car while you practice it.
