Nice packaging, average headphone

Wowstar wired headphones (designed by REMAX from Hong Kong) really surprised me with their sound quality. I paid twice their current price for less than impressive sound. These are small buds, so the bass isn't deep by any means, but it does have some punch, and the mids and highs are bright and balanced. They seem to do best with pop and electronic music, although they're great for jazz and acoustics. They can't compete with buds in the $50+ range, but more than claim below. Build quality seems decent, and they come in an attractive hardboard box (wood?) with a magnetic snap-on lid. This is reminiscent of things I saw in electronics stores when I lived in Okinawa. The RM-569 comes with 3 sizes of silicone tips - I use the largest. They sit reasonably well in the ears with little noise isolation. Aside from the packaging and the slightly above average sound quality, these earbuds don't stand out in any way. The nearly 4-inch cable is flimsy and transmits some noise to the ears when moving, so I wouldn't recommend using it while running or exercising. The cord seems to get tangled easily over time, but so far so good. " The jack is at a 90° angle. The built-in microphone works, but the sound quality on calls is not satisfactory, and it doesn't always pick up well unless you speak loudly. The only audio button on the right ear The cable is supposed to control play/pause, track forward and track back depending on whether you press it 1, 2 or 3. Unfortunately I can't get it to work with my iPhone 6. It won't answer/hang up calls either. Finally, the lightweight headphones themselves can be a bit slippery due to their small size and smooth finish, which made the silicone tips difficult to replace and generally control. When the volume nears the 75% mark, it all kicks in its a little distorting, but that can be fixed after further playing in. Due to the decent sound quality, I leave the RM-569 as a spare buds, but continue to use more expensive headphones decisive. With their unusual packaging, they make a great gift for non-audiophiles who just want to listen to music, podcasts or audiobooks and don't care about cable controls. court
