As conscientious parents, my husband and I decided to lead a more sustainable lifestyle and the first step was to reduce the waste in our home as much as possible while also reducing the overall consumption of our wallets. Since both my husband and I have very busy work weeks, we usually cook more so that we have food ready for our family during the busy week. However, we realized very quickly that the kitchen is a very delicate place for vegetables as we realized that we use so much plastic packaging to store our lunch and dinner leftovers. We used the plastic wrap once each time and then it went straight into the bin. Such a waste and definitely not for our environment. A close friend of mine bought these Swoofe food wraps for me as a gift a while ago as she has been using them for quite some time. I was intrigued and very interested the moment she shared them with me... because I knew how much plastic we were using back then. It took me a while to get used to this to be honest because the wrappers have a certain stickiness that helps them hold on to trays and themselves when wrapping certain foods. As each cloth is also coated in beeswax it also has a lovely sweet scent but is in no way overpowering. I also LOVE the fact that each cloth is reusable and cleaning only requires a quick rinse with cold water and a light soap if needed. After that I hung it on a dish rack to air dry. Once dry, I folded them up and kept them in my drawer until I needed to use them again. So easy and practical! I mainly use cling film to cover plates of cooked vegetables, sliced fruit, and dinners. I also keep my pre-cooked, bite-sized omelettes in a kids' wrapped bowl in the mornings and also use it to wrap their lunches and snacks. I just let them put it back and keep it in their packed lunches until they bring it home from school. Even their teachers noticed and asked :) I bought these extra wipes and plan to buy more for my relatives and friends. This was great as the wraps not only keep food fresher but also keep it fresher longer which has saved our family a lot of time over a busy week as we noticed less food was wasted overall. People took notice of the packaging because the prints are so darn cute and eye-catching! My sister was familiar with beeswax wraps but wasn't a fan of them because she had previously tried another brand that was extremely tough, flaked off when crushed, and didn't stick at all. I showed her these wraps and she was surprised to see the difference. I ended up giving her one of my headbands to take home and she has since bought a few for herself. To be honest since I started using swoofe wraps it's been getting very hard for me to ever use plastic wraps again and I'm so glad I don't have to anymore!
