There is nothing wrong with this product. Something is wrong with my cat. That slowed her down a bit - now she only hunts my poor little canary at night, when she's at her best. At least it took her interest during the day, but she's too stubborn at night. She'll still walk on it - in fact she doesn't seem to have a problem. She's quite small so I think she can fit her tiny paws BETWEEN the rows of spikes. Or a little pain can't compare with their nocturnal wanderings. The poor little bird tries not to move until I come to rescue him and put the big hunter in a kennel for an hour until I put him in my room to sleep. The thankful problem is half solved. I would buy without hesitation, just make sure you don't underestimate your cat's hunting instincts which can be more than their discomfort.
