I was lucky enough to snag this in a significant sale. I've thought long and hard about buying one of these and the discounted price made this one I couldn't refuse. I've been using it for garage meetings for several weeks. Here's what I found out. Out of the box it is sufficient. The sound is ok. The Mega Bass button adds some bass, but it's not incredible. For the price I bought it for, it was worth it. But wait! Eat more! If you download the Sony Music Center app from the App/Play Store, you can login and play around with the equalizer. Here you can really customize the sound you want with multiple presets and a fully customizable equalizer. If someone complains about the sound, they can easily fix it with the app. Once you install it, you can forget about it. It seemingly saves your equalizer settings forever. So far I've driven around 20 for the volume. This is pretty handy for background noise in a room full of people. You will blow them up by increasing the volume to 50. I maxed it out to see what it's capable of and it didn't seem to break at all when it hit the ceiling. The EQ settings seem to switch as the box is opened and closed. I've found that in most cases, leaving it open produces the fullest sound. Maybe it would be better to close it if mounted on a pole? Also, it appears to be fairly omnidirectional. Sounds pretty good if you're in front or behind him. All in all, it is a solid party box. While it's a bit inconvenient to carry around, I don't plan on standing and holding it all the time. It has good enough handles to carry it from the trunk to the collection point. Not the biggest, not the smallest, but great for a one stop solution. UPDATE April 2020: I found this to be the perfect music box for outdoor activities at camp. It also appears (as advertised) that the device is reasonably waterproof. I left it outside overnight and didn't realize it was raining. Wiped, no damage, no foul. Super happy to have received this.
