Don't be fooled by the "cheap/simple " appearance. They are amazing!
I work in a machine shop and I get metal splinters all the time. My boss had a couple of these on his desk and let me use them the first time I got a serious thorn. These things look ridiculously simple and cheap, but I can tell you now that they work better for removing splinters than any tweezers I have, so I bought a pair for the house.
