I bought this cat tree after reading the reviews and was very satisfied nervous about it being difficult to assemble based on what i read.after it arrived i understood why many other reviewers said to put it together top to bottom with all the parts (nothing was labeled but it was fairly easy to figure out where each piece goes because of the pre-drilled holes) and I started working with the bare bones directions.Assembly was relatively quick until I got to the cat bed cover.There wasn't a hole in the middle to put a screw through fabric, so I had to cut one out to attach this piece to the post. Once I had all the pieces together, I found that the base was crooked o because there are 6 scratching posts and 2 of the 6 are longer than the others. These longer posts are numbered 8 in the table they give you. CHECK THE DIMENSIONS BEFORE INSTALLATION. If I knew what to look for - the diagram doesn't mention anything about rack length - I wouldn't have to take everything apart. I was very happy when everything was (re)assembled and grounded. finally cleaned up. Until I realized that the holes in the base didn't line up with the posts and that I had placed the cat house on the wrong side of the tree - it should have been where the side of the hammock was. I recommend laying out all the pieces on the ground first and then reassembling from top to bottom to make sure everything lines up correctly and you don't have to take it apart like I did. (3 times.) Apart from learning how to assemble, I am very happy with the purchase. This is a quality (and strong) tree. For the price I paid I think it was a good buy. Our cat took to it straight away and seems delighted with the height she can reach with it. As it's brand new I think it will take her a while to really get used to it, but first impressions are looking pretty good! A little catnip and some time she'll play with it and she'll have to take it for herself before we know.
