I recently had cataract surgery and needed readers. At first I bought full frame lenses but decided that half lenses would also be useful. I like to use these half powers as bifocals when I want to see something up close, but I know I'll also be looking far away, like reading a restaurant menu. I can read the menu but I still look and see my friends at dinner. Very convenient, although I still have to get used to it. You get two pairs for the price, which is a good deal.
