I wear these headphones at home and while I'm out and about; when I ride the train, I put on my Sennheiser IE 4 headphones. Koss Porta Pro appreciated not only their sound and their "omnivorousness," but also the fact that they can hear what is occurring on the street around you. This means that you are not blocked off from the world around you, so it will not come as a surprise to you if a car or a mad biker jumps out of nowhere. And the sound quality is not compromised in any way. The end result is that you must pay them, as they are well worth the cost. The fact that they were given to me just serves to increase the degree to which I feel compassion for these "ears" =))). Good luck!
