My 14 year old labrador had slightly elevated kidney values and the vet wanted to put him on a prescription diet and have his kidneys checked again in 3 months. Instead, I decided to do it with Dr. to try Harvey. After eating this food for 3 months, we checked his kidney values again and his urea nitrogen and creatinine values were lower. The vet was very happy and surprised that the levels had dropped so much in just 3 months. The mixture is easy to make just by adding hot water and you can make the mixture and store it in the fridge for up to 3 or 4 days. I usually cook 4 meals at a time (for 2 days) and put the hydrated mix and protein in separate containers. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is that it requires some planning, especially when you have to cook the meat, thaw it out of the freezer, etc. On the other hand, the company is great. I first ordered a sample directly from the company and a handwritten thank you note for the purchase was included. Also, after about 2 weeks of using the food, my dog had diarrhea for a few days and I was worried it was something with the food. I emailed the company and they responded quickly and suggested I see Dr. Call Harvey and talk to him. I called and he wasn't in the office yet but the man took my number and said he would call when he got there. I didn't have high expectations of getting a call and then he called me. and talked to me for about 15 minutes. He told me to cut half an apple into small pieces and let them brown. The pectin formed during browning is a binding agent. I put it in dog food and you know what? It worked! I cannot say enough about the excellent customer service and the company itself.
