I've been looking forward to the Stylus 1010 for a long time, but unfortunately I'm very disappointed. There are so many good reviews out there I figured it was a safe bet. I wanted it mainly because it's small enough to fit in my purse and because it's the only pocket camera I could find with a decent zoom (7x optical, equivalent to 37-260mm). Unfortunately, every time I extend the lens all the way, I get a blurry image. I also get a lot of grainy photos. Images are grainy or washed out in all but ideal lighting conditions. Sometimes they are overexposed in bright sunlight. This is mostly due to automatic settings. I played around with some of the many other settings, but they didn't impress me more. Sometimes super macro will give you a great sharp shot, but just as often it will give you a blurry shot. If your subject moves at all with macro settings, don't even waste your time trying. This is true for pretty much every other setting besides sports. And I don't mean quick movements, I mean even slight movements. It was supposed to be a simple point and shoot camera that my fiancรฉ could use as well, but obviously he can't be sure of a good shot. That. Sometimes I think my expectations were too high because I usually use a (semi)professional camera (Nikon D70S), but I really think that a pocket camera is at least 70% of the "normal" or "simple" Capture recordings clearly. I used to have a Canon pocket camera and gotten much better results. The Olympus Stylus 1010 is a sad disappointment.
