Review on πŸ’ͺ Milwaukee 2780 20 M18 Fuel Bare: Unleash the Power of Advanced Technology by Sean Patel

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It's better to have some big batteries or a bag full of XP to get everything done.

I like the look and feel of the grinder, the safety catch is a bit annoying because it's so small and angled, but the handle is ergonomic and the grinder is well balanced with XP 3.0. I'm a welder and thought this would come in handy for small projects or hard to reach places where my welding cord won't reach. It's ok for very small projects, I think I was able to make (3) 4" cuts on a 1/4" board before my battery died. What stopped 2 or 3 times during these cuts, maybe the smart chip sensed that the motor or battery was going to be damaged/overheating or something, I don't know. All I have are 2 XP 3.0 batteries and it's pretty much useless with them. I can't say how it will work with the new CPs, it can work really well with 6.0Ah or 12.0Ah. Maybe someone here at CP has a review on this, or if I find some extra money I'll get one and post an update. At the moment I am very disappointed with the speed and power of the grinder. I'm not sure what RPM it spins at, but if you compare it to a wired 4 1/2" it's very slow. So if you were to ask me if I would recommend it, I'd say, it depends What type of battery /batteries you have If you have XP like me then no you might be better off getting a tool with an updated battery If you have a new CP 6.0 or higher I would say , Do it.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
