So I work in a secure environment where we have to clean the metal detector every time we enter the premises. So, I have such a belt, black (another brand, Vogle) and it works fine. I decided to buy a brown belt to match my other shoes and thought it looked good. But that won't put out the metal detector. There should still be a large chunk of metal in the buckle because that will work. Anyway, I had trouble getting the buckle to "hook" too. The small spikes that go through the holes in the belt are very short and almost straight. This way they don't really "cling" to the belt holes and slip out easily. I don't have this problem with my other belt. I've had belts like this before so I won't be buying them again. It was nice and the leather seemed to be of good quality, but the closure system leaves a lot to be desired.
