Review on The Ultimate Morakniv Bushcraft Knife: Incomparable Performance in Sleek Black by Talapon Blackburn

Good knife but I have some criticisms

I had the opportunity to use this knife on a hike in the forest. First of all I have owned several Morakniv knives and they are all of high quality workmanship and materials. The quality of this knife is second to none. I like the grip, it's very comfortable and feels natural. The blade feels solid and a bit heavy for a not very large knife. He keeps a sharp edge well. The black finish is a nice touch, although it can still be prone to rust. However, I have two main criticisms of this knife. First off, the square edge comes in handy when you want to clean the ferro rod, but when it comes to slicing with your thumb on the back of the knife, the round edge is more convenient as the square edge digs into your thumb. little. I think you'll get used to it and if you cut that much you'll probably get a callus on your thumb, but personally I think I prefer the rounded edge. Finally, all of my ferro rods have small metal scrapers attached to them, and scraping the ferro rod with the back of a knife actually removes the black finish from the knife, making it more prone to rusting. Ideally on the one hand. The back is square for iron rod scraping and the other side is rounded for thumb tapping. I doubt Morakniv will release such a design as then they would need both right handed and left handed versions. I can try using some kind of metal grinder on this knife to make one side rounder. My second criticism concerns the sheath. All other Morakniv knife sheaths I own have a small thumb stub at the top which makes removing the knife from your belt/pocket very easy and intuitive, you don't even have to think about it. However, the Bushcraft Black sheath does not have a thumb protrusion, so removing the knife requires a little more attention and foresight. I still press my thumb on the top of the Bushcraft Black sheath when I draw the knife, but I only have to press on the thin edge of the sheath itself, not the nice wide thumb tab, which is tougher. There are a couple of indentations on the side of the Bushcraft Black sheath where there should be a thumb pull which I think should help with retrieving the knife but I found they didn't really do anything and didn't offer enough. buy to really help with knife extraction. In a way I prefer the Morakniv Companion Heavy Duty Knife with Sandvik high carbon steel blade found here: https://www.amazon.com/Morakniv-Companion-Sandvik-4-1-Inch-Military/dp/B009NZVZ3E/ Compaion is the knife I used prior to purchasing the Bushcraft Black. The two knives are almost identical except that the Companion doesn't have a black finish and has a different handle, but I have no issues with either handle. The blades of the Companion and Bushcraft Black are almost the same size and width, except the Bushcraft Black is slightly longer and feels a little heavier than the Companion, but not by much. The Companion Blade has rounded edges on the back of the blade, making it more comfortable to press. I definitely prefer the companion sheath because it has a small thumb grip that makes it easier to remove the knife from a belt or pocket. I have no idea why they removed this feature from the Bushcraft Black. In addition, the Companion costs only half. So the Morakniv Bushcraft Black is definitely a great knife, but I would also suggest considering the Morakniv Companion Heavy Duty Knife with a Sandvik high carbon steel blade instead.
