Great start for DSLR

I'm a typical parent who photographs school plays, vacations, amusement park trips, birthdays, sleepovers, family reunions, children playing, etc. and I wanted DSLR photo quality. I originally bought the Canon G10 which was the best in the range when I bought it. I paid almost the same as for my D3000 back then. At the time I figured that for the price I paid I was getting point-and-shoot DSLR quality with the G10. While I still love my G10 as a travel camera, it's still just point-and-shoot without the ability to capture SLR-quality footage. This D3000 is my first DSLR and I am very happy to have both a camera and a DSLR. I bought my D3000 with a Nikor 70-200 lens (for sporting events - glad I did). My neighbor bought a D90 and we compared the image quality of the same subjects we shot. My D3000 measured almost every shot up to D90! I can't shoot video like the D90 and of course the D90 is a much more advanced camera for more experienced photographers who can afford it. the camera is perfect. I don't fully understand manual settings yet (still learning), but the D3000 has a few presets that I use all the time that work really well. Every picture amazes me again and again. This camera proves that a quality DSLR is finally worth it for anyone who wants to go from point to point and shoot on DSLRs. There is DEFINITELY a difference.
