Review on πŸ–₯️ Kogi Alaska L7EH 17" LCD Monitor with High-Quality Built-in Speakers and 1280X1024 Resolution by Robert Marquez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best LCD for displaying text. Weak graphics.

I gave 5 stars because it does one thing very well. That said, this is the best LCD display I've ever seen. The root of that strength is also the root of his weakness. The monitor doesn't handle the color gamut well and tends to display most intermediate colors as extreme. For example, grayscale tends to appear as black, white as bright white, red as bright red, and so on. While that's bad for movies, it's the secret to this LCD's excellent text display. Text is crisp, clean, dark black and white is brilliant white. The film problem can be improved in two ways: 1. Use the monitor's bright mode for films and normal mode for text2. Use the Bright function in your movie software. Option 2 works best to my knowledge, especially for widescreen movies. Despite its 40 ms latency, the monitor is also well suited for gaming. No haloes at all. I also bought a VPR dot matrix LCD which had digital input and worked better with movies and games. It also had a better viewing angle. However, KOGI was much better for text, so much so that I returned the vpr matrix and left KOGI. The vpr matrix had 5 dead white pixels while the KOGI had none. other black computer equipment. The last tip is to install a dual display: LCD + CRT. So you get the best of both worlds.

Pros
  • Wide horizontal viewing angle of 160 degrees
Cons
  • Limited refresh rate options
