Not perfect, but for what it is, it's the best option.

Diffuser is the only option that can be bought folded and fits 160-214 LEDs. They're not perfect, but they do what they need to do intelligently. I've done some tests to post and they make the light less harsh on the subject, even more so than the diffusers that come with the kit. Since it's farther from the source, it makes sense that it would be more ideal than directly across from the LED. This is also part of its limitation, it's small and only a few centimeters from the LED. Don't expect it to compete with a larger softbox, it just doesn't work that way. It's like using a small nail hammer to hang pictures on the wall versus using a hammer when building a house. Personally, I don't have a lot of space and need portability, so I figured the tradeoff was worth it. They are foldable and the lights can even be put in a bag for storage. It opens. It stays on top and inside there is a wire around the diffuser that keeps it in shape. Well if you're trying to imagine what they look like, imagine a thin, reusable lunch bag like this one with shiny insulating material, it doesn't seem premium, but makes for a size/weight compromise when it's holding up , I am well. It looks good. Some seams may be loose, crooked, etc. This is not bad and does not deviate from the ones I ordered. The diffuser material is sewn into the front. When researching before buying, I saw that almost every review complained about the strap that attaches it. At first I thought it wasn't as bad as they said but then I went to move my lights and they fell on the stand and it was a nightmare to fix. When you get them, make sure you have velcro and take the time to close the velcro around the edges to secure it better. Just using a strap will make you miserable. After trying to get a lightbulb/umbrella to work in my home studio, I decided to use the LEDs I had instead. Luckily I preferred them to be small and adjustable, use batteries and pack in my bag if I wanted to take them with me. I decided I needed a diffuser and found this to be the best option. There is room for improvement but these were the best I could find for what I wanted.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Periodicity
