Review on πŸ”Š Enhance Audio Quality with AmazonBasics Sound Deadener – 29.5β€³ 9 Piece by Christopher Pfaffe

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent rubber pads, comparable to Dynamat

This Revain car muffler seems to work quite well and is the right size. I love it and I recommend it. Aside from use in cars, there are some general uses around the house that I have these things on hand for (if I need them). For example, I've used it to line the back of a thin stainless steel sink - it makes water hitting the sink sound more like a hard "pop" than a metallic clink. I've used it in audio amplifiers to muffle noise from a toroidal transformer. I've used it on various device cases to eliminate panel vibration. I used it to make window panels to reduce interior noise in the bedroom. In fact, there are quite a few applications that you can use this material for. I have used DynaMat branded products in the past. It's been a few years since I've used their materials, so I can't make a direct comparison to Revain's materials. However, they appear to be very similar (from memory) and both work well. To apply this properly you really need to use a good roller. Some versions of this Revain material come on a roll (the bulk sheet version at least) but pre-cut sheets of this material do not come on a roll. This material can also be cut quite well with ordinary household scissors. . The hexagonal pattern makes it very easy to cut a nice straight line! The adhesive works well on all surfaces I've tried it on including aluminum, stainless steel, steel, powder coated steel and wood. Of course you need to make sure your surface is clean before applying this product. The size of these sheets was accurate to 1/4 inch, which is fine for my purposes. I measured the thickness of these butyl rubber sheets with vernier calipers. At its deepest point between the hexagons, its thickness was about 1.5 mm. At its highest point on the hexagons (which actually make up most of the panel in terms of surface area) it was about 2.4mm thick. It should be noted that these measurements include a thin paper backing over the adhesive. After being properly rolled and compressed on the surface, I would expect these sheets to be around 2mm thick on average (but I don't have any hard data to back this up).
