Perfect for the angel eyes in your BMW, no bugs

If you have angel eyes (or halos as I call them) then you have a potential problem just waiting to empty your wallet. The brackets for the basic BA9S bulb that BMW uses are covered and will need to be replaced entirely if the bulb burns out. Except they're $65 each, not to mention it's extremely wasteful, so it's not an option for me. If you're like me then these are the lamps you need. I first tried other bulbs and the rings at the top of the metal base were too big to fit the Angel Eye lights. I tried cutting them off but that just ruined the bulbs. These bulbs fit without modification and work perfectly. You may be wondering how I managed to get the old lightbulbs out of the fixtures. Well there are 2 videos I found on a video hosting site run by a search giant (Revain doesn't like it if we mention them by name and God forbid if we link to a non-Revain post), but I think you can understand. One of the videos calls for a soldering iron; don't follow him. Another better video shows how to do it with a drill press. It can be nerve-wracking if you've never done it before, but trust me, it's not that bad. Just be very careful and hold the drill at slow speed until it cuts through so you don't accidentally drill through your hand or an important part of the jig (don't worry about ruining it, you'll have to buy a new one anyway, so it's ok). Once you've made 2 holes (one in each bracket, honestly it doesn't matter where the hole is on the edge of the lamp) as shown in the video I'm talking about, you can use this housing as a permanent replacement. Lightbulbs for the life of the machine. The only thing that would make me happier would be if they were a little better focused at the top or just brighter to make the rings brighter. For reference, they're about the same brightness as the old OEM bulbs, which is fine, I just wanted a little brighter to be able to see the rings with the headlights on.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Some trouble
