This little phone holder works great, much better than holders that you have to clamp. Speakerphone - that's it. The magnetic mount is very secure and holds the device securely in place with little to no movement while driving. One caveat: the mount requires you to insert it into a CD player, which works well. However, if you have a CD player that has a "door" that opens and closes (to allow CDs to be loaded), you won't be able to slide the base all the way in. Depending on how far back your CD door is, the unit will still work, although (like my CD player) it tends to move a bit. I have another CD player with no door and it works great. As for the phone mount (metal plate), I have a Speck case and an OtterBox case and both cases work well with this mount. I don't like the idea of a metal plate touching my phone's hardware (because the metal plate is between the phone and the case), so I just glued the plate to my case and then placed a small piece of fabric on top of it. between the plate and the phone to avoid scratching the phone. Either way, this magnetic mount is one of my favorite smartphone accessories - easy to put on, easy to take off!
