It does its best work on fish and aquatic animals
It's not a fancy light, but it's bright enough that you can adjust the light or dim it if you like. My 20G tank has live plants but only hardy base plants like anubias and java fern and this light has kept them healthy and happy. However, I cannot say whether this lamp is suitable for more capricious and demanding plants. It's possible, but I haven't used it on these plants, so I can't say for sure.
