I don't like putting too much mascara on my lashes. I would prefer to do 2 layers. I can say that with this colored mascara you need to apply more than 2 coats to try to get a vivid color effect like in the product photos. That's why there is a mascara roller in each box to separate the lashes after applying a ton of mascara. some color on my eyelashes. 2 coats was fine for me. The mascara doesn't really color the lashes very well.
