Review on SilBlade 2222 Premium Wiper Blade by Mark Hobbs

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Excellent - for the price you can't do better in my opinion!

Edit June 2021: I will try Michelin now. What I've found with these Silblade blades is that they start to wobble and that's because the rubber portion of the blade starts to "deform" for lack of a better word. Otherwise the rubber is fine and not worn at all, but since the rubber is no longer at a 90 degree angle to the glass, it snags and dangles! Long time! And there is no need to bend the lever - the problem is in the rubber. Edit September 2018: I fell in love with these wipers. They don't seem to last as long as they did when I first started using them. After about a year or so I was actually getting a lot of streaks (see update below). That was in 2016. Then I read some good reviews about Bosch knives and tried them next time. They were very expensive, but really no better than these almost double the price Silblades. Again - after about a year they began to undress badly. Perhaps a year is all you should expect from a knife, but in this case just buy the cheapest and change it often! There are $7 blades and $25 blades. If the latter doesn't actually work better and last as long, then why throw the money away? First review: Replaced the OEM blades on my Acura with these. I believe the Acura blades were about 18 months old. And while they still kind of worked, they leaked a little. Most notably, they lost the ability to clean the windshield from light pollution and the use of a washing machine. I bought Silblade for my other cars and they lasted about 4 years. Even at the age of 4 I wasn't sure if they needed replacing but they didn't seem to work as well as new ones. So I know these blades will last a long time. I didn't repurchase the Silblades to replace the 4 year old ones though - I bought something else (Anco Contour) with a similar design for about half the price because the Silblades seemed overpriced at almost $20 a blade. These Ancos are ok but I can say they are not as good as the Silblade and I doubt they will last as long. When I saw this special FLX package for my Acura at a much better price, I went back to the Silblade. What immediately struck me about these FLX reeds is that they work easily and have been very quiet so far. They clean the windshield very well - no streaks. So I'm optimistic that they will be good for a while. Update 12/2016 - These blades are pretty exhausted. They don't look worn, but now they leave behind a rainbow of water droplets with every swipe. So they lasted about 18 months, which is not as good as my previous experience with Power Blades. They lasted about 4 years but it was an old style frame. I don't know if that's the difference, or if the composition of the rubber has changed, or if these woods have been treated harder.
