I was so excited to buy this for my 9 year old daughter to accompany her dressing table in her room which we bought for her birthday. When she was younger my daughter had makeup to play with and it ended up on the walls. However, my daughter started asking for a "real" makeover, which was surprising since she is very boyish, which I had no problem with, baby get dirty. Well, now let's try makeup, let's go! So now we're dealing with the "girl". I give her this makeup flower and she loves it. Cute! Then I notice that not only is one of the shells broken (it won't open), but also the base powder is dark. So if you have a very light skinned child or a dark skinned little girl, this medium beige color will not work. But we applied this dark powder and I just smiled. Well, and the colors, gosh, why didn't I realize they were DISNEY colors?! I was so distracted by the word TEEN that I didn't notice the extremely bright colors. What will my daughter choose? Yes, bright purple Barney! Of course we can wear this in front of school! (When I try to mix his shade) So parents this gift is amazing but make sure you can live with the powder and shades. I took my daughter's age into account when choosing this palette and to be honest it's not intended for teenagers as advertised, but for little girls who play makeup. I want to encourage them to use more natural tones. I don't wear makeup, so we're both studying, but we only know our audience. If you buy the colors of the rainbow, your child will never choose brown.
