My 11 year old daughter loves this as much as the duct tape craze. There are many different brands of machine tools that are not too expensive. It's buying all the rubber bands, charms, and new things that come out all the time it's cost you. You can fetch great prices, especially if you can buy in bulk. But charms don't come in large quantities and read reviews on all accessories as there are many complaints about the quality - some of the rubber bands complain that they snap easily, charms are often so cheaply made they don't hold etc. Just do your research and track sales in craft stores and online. I am amazed at the many things my daughter has done with her own imagination. She exceeded the need for this book, so I'm looking for one that has more ideas and is more difficult. When she sleeps and they start, we don't even know we have kids in the house because they spend hours making things. The girls spent about two hours on one of them, and each of them made 12-foot jump ropes that became many other things, including an "alarm system" in the first place. I love how they have fun but learn how to make their creations work as they don't follow a step by step guide. Even my husband joins in because he is an engineer at heart and loves to be asked for help sometimes. Then my cats and I enjoy the silence. She doesn't even use a loom anymore and learned how to use two pins and it gives a whole different look to the bracelets and everything else. Definitely a great purchase for any girl or boy who loves to make things. Yes, they have rubber bands in men's colors and prints. Both can do thinner things and most of the boys' things they show look wider and heavier.
