When I received my watch I tried the 'automatic' winding but found it was a winding watch. There are no problems here! In fact, I prefer the fact that it starts up the way I was looking for it. Now they don't wind up like a 'normal' watch because when you turn the knob, they never stop. Strange in a way. But I also like it, because there is always a risk that a normal watch will be overwound and stop working. And bonus: They seem to keep accurate time, which I couldn't do with any other watch. I set the time a few days ago and it may have increased by a minute. If he hits five or more, I set him again. But that's not an everyday occurrence, as was the case with a watch I bought for double the price. This gains 4-5 minutes a day. My husband was so impressed with the large numbers and easy timing that he asked me to order for him as well. While I don't know how long this watch will last, the way it looks now it should last a long time.
