Strong chemical smell

I bought these wipes for kittens that I bottle feed. I usually use soft, unscented baby wipes to help kittens clean up after meals and poop just like their mother would. These wipes have a pretty strong chemical odor right out of the box, almost chemically offensive (not the smell of vinegar but something that smells like industrial cleaners). They also seem to burn kittens' skin, causing them to squeeze, especially around their butt and mouth, which accounts for 99 percent of the cleaning I need wipes for. They feel mild enough on my human skin, but again, they smell terrible. I used them a few times to make sure it was just an unfamiliar smell but they never liked them so I took different wipes and set them aside for a different use. The packaging is all plastic and the wipes themselves appear to be typically synthetic. fiber napkins; If you're interested in reducing your use of plastic, this won't help you much.
