diamond version: The holes are larger than necessary and I think they are too big for the cat to walk on Honeycomb version: The holes are a decent size, not too big paws and big enough to catch the feces (I use clumping). I've found that there is less rubbish going past the bowls. It's tough and you'll have to empty it every few days if you have multiple cats. I personally think it was easier to use a carpet cleaner which I used as a garbage mat.
