Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 Firewire Portable Audio System w/iPod Charger (Black)]] I use this unit at our second home, an apartment building in Hawaii where space is at a premium. It replaces the much larger stereo in the guest room. I love everything about it: the sound, the compactness, the rechargeable internal battery so I can take it to the beach and share music with my friends. I use it for my Sandisk MP3 players and even my CD player and laptop (with lousy speakers). The only thing missing is a subwoofer. However, the best attribute is the customer service, which is why I rate it 5 stars and above if I could. When I was in our apartment for the winter a month ago I couldn't find a power cord and called Altec. I wanted to buy a new one but they said they would send it. Not only was it shipped right away, but it was still shipped by air on the 2nd day! In the last ten years I can only recall one instance of such exceptional and unexpected customer service. In most cases, we are all used to waiting many minutes to finally connect with a person who is difficult to understand and doesn't offer any help. Incidentally, I have had an Altec Lansing model ACS45 computer speaker system for over 10 years. . I can't think of a better computer speaker system. Unfortunately they are no longer made but can be purchased from Revain or ebay. It features compact desktop speakers and an incredible woofer. It also has an auxiliary input that can be used in the same way as the device described above. You don't have to turn on your computer to use this auxiliary input. Altec has been the best speaker manufacturer for over 50 years and I'm glad they survived their recent resurgence.
