Purchased to fit into a large new shower cubicle. I didn't want protruding shelves or one of those annoying shower stalls that don't hold anything up at all. I could have made a tile alcove to match the rest of the shower, but this alcove saved me 4 hours of tedious detail tile work. In addition, this niche fits the shower head and controls. I like the looks. If you're paying someone to tile your shower and want a niche, this pre-made option will likely save you the work of creating a niche out of tiles. Installation is much faster because there are no open edges around this niche. All edges of the tile are closed by the sides of this niche. You simply cut a hole in the base plate, cut the tile to match the edges of the hole when tiling, glue it in when the grout is done and apply some silicone around the tile to seal it. Very easy installation. Any exposed surface has a slight incline to allow water to drain rather than pool. The brushed stainless steel surface is very easy to care for and retains an attractive appearance. Every new tiled shower I build will have one of these. Maybe different styles or finishes but definitely an ALFI branded product.
