They were surprisingly easy to set up. The base material is strong and resists bending well. The fastening set supplied is a great help for keeping things tidy. There's even an extra roll of double-sided tape. While a self-adhesive backing tape would probably suffice for most installations, I decided to use fasteners to create continuous curves. I really like that this kit also includes screws that ensure a secure connection. The power supply looks sleek and is UL certified, which feels more secure. The included remote control was already paired with the light and can access all the settings - it's infrared, but the system is powerful enough that I was able to leave the receiver hidden and everything still works perfectly. I like having a remote control so I don't have to give my phone away if someone wants to play with the lights. Because this kit was a 50 foot strip, I didn't have to fiddle with the joints. However, there are markings on the strip to make cuts if necessary. Getting the app was easy too. I'm glad these lights use Smart Life/Tuya as many other products are included in the same app and Smart Life has a reliable detection system that found my lights quickly and integrated Alexa into the setup. Alexa recognized the light and the viola immediately, and voice commands worked. The Smart Life app has access to all settings, while Alexa is limited to basic things like color and brightness. The app offers many different ways to automate lighting, including several different templates and syncing to music. I like the smooth, slow color transition the best, and it's great that the app gives you full control over the speed of the transition.
