The case initially had a strange smell but it went away after a day or two. The sleep function on the cover doesn't always work, but I haven't found one that actually works yet. Just make sure to press the sleep button before closing the case and the problem will be solved. The colors were exactly as pictured and matched my iPad 2 perfectly.
