I bought this unit to be able to record clear audio without the static noise you hear with most gaming headsets/mics. It's easy to set up, just plug the included cable into both the microphone and your PC's USB port. The instructions are very clear and briefly describe the different microphone modes. What I really like is that it also tells you what the different modes are recommended for. "Omnidirectional" mode is recommended for instrumental recording, group vocals, etc. etc. It's very handy for beginners, especially for me as this is my first dedicated microphone. Now that you have a dedicated microphone, why do you need a gaming headset, right? The mic even has a headphone jack, so you can ditch that $100 headset and use Apple Earbuds or any 3.5mm headphones you like. On the front of the microphone is a dedicated volume control and a mute button that flashes red to indicate the audio is muted. On the back there is a button to switch between different microphone modes, as well as a button to increase or decrease the volume at which the microphone reproduces the recorded sound. "Gain" is written on the handle. The microphone itself is very well made. Heavy steel (it seems steel?) as a base and a lighter but still metallic body. There are knobs to adjust the angle of the mic or even unscrew the base to install it on a raised mount. The quality of the microphone is excellent. Grabs almost everything. From mechanical keyboard clicks to loud gulps. Very, very excellent. So was the total $130 I spent on the product worth it? Yes. Considering how good the mic sounds and the fact that I will be using it when streaming to Twitch and commenting on YouTube videos, I think this is a very good investment that will probably last a few years.
